Amy Carlson
Amy Carlson was raised in Glen Ellyn
(Illinois) and was a part of her early years living in Chicago. Amy was a part
of her family in Chicago until she was in junior high. Parents, Bob, and Barb
taught at the American School in the Middle East. Amy is the sister Betsy,
Lori, and brother Joe. Amy has traveled extensively across Europe with her
entire family and independently. Her parents were teachers so they had the
opportunity to spend their summers together camping and traveling all across
the United States. They've stayed in every state except Alaska. Amy went to
Rwanda to help in relief efforts following the 1994 war. At a young age, Amy
showed artistic talent acting in school productions and taking part in writing
contests. High school was where she excelled as an athlete taking part in the
first ever 3200 meter relay race for girls in the Illinois track. After
college, she suffered an injury, she returned the theater , playing a variety
of roles on stage starting with Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July" and
directing Wallace Shawn's "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy was a Knox
College student from Galesburg, Illinois. She graduated with a B.A. in East
Asian history and a concentration in Theater. She moved to Chicago shortly
after and then studied Improv at the Improv Olympic and acting in the theater
at The Actor's Center. Shortly after graduation she was offered on a contract
as an actress on the soap opera Another World (1964). She was nominated in the
"Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama Series" category
for Daytime Emmy Award. Her most memorable roles include those played by strong
women, including Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone ((2000)),
Katie Owen and Tom Berenger in Peacemakers(2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue
Bloods(2003). Carlson is currently living in New York City together with Syd
Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), and she is owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy
is continuing to write as well as look for unique and diverse jobs in the film
industry.
