Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay was born on the 24th of August 1972 on the 24th of August 1972 in Long Beach California. DuVernay learned to love the arts from the aunt Denise. The aunt worked as an overnight nurse in order to give her an opportunity to study literature or theater. DuVernay immediately fell in love after showing her an old 1959 West Side Story film. DuVernay realized after watching her mother's model of that art can be an activist vehicle. The summers she spent in Alabama's Selma would be the inspiration for her later the film about the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay completed Saint Joseph High School at Lakewood in California in the year 1990. DuVernay went to the University of California Los Angeles after graduating, where she received degrees in English as well as African American Studies. DuVernay started producing for the broadcast industry while she was still at college. DuVernay was a CBS News intern during the O.J. Simpson Trial. DuVernay recalled being given an assignment to watch the home and looking through the waste of one of members of the juries. When she was dissatisfied with journalism due to the work she was handed and deciding to go after a career in publicity. DuVernay got a job right from college, working as a new publicist at a studio. Her own Public Relations company, The DuVernay Agency was created in 1999. In addition to PR her agency also launched several lifestyle and promotional networks including the Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective, Urban Eye and HelloBeautiful.
