Antonique Smith, a singer and actress from East Orange New Jersey in 1983, made her acting debut by playing one small part on the television show created by Sidney Lumet 100 Centre Street. Smith began her professional career as a performer in East Orange New Jersey, beginning in 1983. Her debut role was in the Sidney Lumet television show 100 Centre Street. Then she got more notice starring as Mimi in the hit Broadway show Rent from 2005 through 2007. In 2007, Smith was in the role of Faith Evans in Julie Taymor's feature-length film Across the Universe. Smith showcased her voice and acting talents two years later when she portrayed Faith Evans, a rapper/singer in the Biggie Smalls Biopic Notorious.
