Camila Cabello Bio

Cabello was born in Havana, Cuba, to Sinuhe Estrabao and Alejandro Cabello. She was born in East Havana's Cojimar. Her father hails from Mexico City, and was born there. He later moved to Cuba with his family. Sofia is her older sister. The Cabello family frequently moved between Havana, Mexico City for the majority of her childhood. Cabello moved to Miami, Florida with her mother when she was six years old. Her father was unable to obtain an immigration visa at the time , and she joined the family 18 months later. Cabello was granted American citizenship in 2008. Cabello attended Miami Palmetto High School, but she left during the school year 2012-2013 when she was still in 9th grade to pursue a singing career. She later earned her high school diploma. Camila Cabello was a contestant on The X Factor, a TV talent competition in Greensboro, North Carolina. She auditioned for Aretha Franklin's track "Respect" However, her audition was turned down by the program. After being eliminated during the "bootcamp" part of the competition in Miami, Florida, Cabello was brought back to the stage along with other contestants Ally Brooke, Normani, Lauren Jauregui and Dinah Jane. Together they formed the girl group that later became known as Fifth Harmony. They signed a contract with Syco Music, owned and directed by Simon Cowell, as well as Epic Records, L.A. Reid's record label.
